Nani Daman Fort

Nani Daman Fort (also called the Fort of St. Jerome) is located on the northern bank of the Damanganga River in Nani Daman. It is smaller than Moti Daman Fort but equally historic, with well-preserved Portuguese architecture.

History

Built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, Nani Daman Fort served as a defensive outpost on the northern side of the Damanganga River. The fort contains the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, one of the oldest churches in Daman.

The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the fort walls, the river-facing bastions, and the scenic views of the Damanganga River are the main attractions.

How to Reach

Nani Daman Fort is located in Nani Daman, about 2 km from Daman city centre. Auto-rickshaws are available from the main market.

Visiting Tips

Visit in the morning for the best light and fewer crowds. The fort is open daily and entry is free. Combine your visit with Jampore Beach which is nearby.
